“We are all fools in love.”

——

The two bodies rush toward one another, clinging to anything touched and drawing it close. Just a few more seconds and they would have been lost forever. Just a few more touches and they will be. Together.

——-

She holds the broken rose stem away from herself, trying to pick the fallen petals off the ground. Bruised, shredded, and dirty, she tries to wipe off the fragile pieces, but they are permanently stained. She gathers them all together, places them in a small pile, and sets the severed stem next to it. She promises herself she is done with him. She promises that she won’t see him again. She promises that she can fix the broken rose.

She draws the necklace he had given her closer to her heart, and a silver tear slips down her face. Promises were always made to be broken.
How can I even describe this? It's a play on the initial sentence. "We are all fools in love." One being fools in love. The other being a fool in love. They are both sides of the coin, juxtaposed with such quick clarity.

Lots of Eric Whitacre (specifically "The Seal Lullaby" and "Alleluia"), stress, and wonderful people that show me true happiness in life made this baby come to life. Also, thank you to oneword.com, my new addiction that helps me get some extra practice on writing when I don't feel motivated enough to write out a prompt.

I hope you guys enjoy this. And I'm sorry for not posting more often. I haven't been so inspired what with stress and other such things. Hopefully I will be a little more musical (Get it? Muse-ical?) from here on out. :D (Oh, I crack myself up.)
